R. Arumugam




Datuk R. Arumugam (also known as Spiderman) was a legendary Malaysian national football goalkeeper Selangor. His exceptionally long arms and brilliant saves have earned him the nickname "Spiderman". He was born on January 31, 1953 in Port Klang, Selangor.

He started his football career at a very young age. He made his debut for Selangor FA when he was 18 years old in the Burnley Cup Youth Tournament in 1971. He represented Selangor FA in the Malaysia Cup tournament from 1972 to 1988, a period during which Selangor FA won the Malaysia Cup eight times.

R. Arumugam earned his first call up to the Malaysia national football team in 1973 for the World Cup qualifying round matches in Seoul, South Korea. During his time with the national team, he helped Malaysia win Merdeka Tournament in 1973, 1974, 1976 and 1979. He also represented Malaysia in the 1973, 1975, 1977, 1979, 1981, 1983 and 1985 Sea Games. His greatest achievement with the national team was the football bronze medal of the 1974 Asian Games in Tehran. He also helped Malaysia to qualify for the 1980 Moscow Olympics Games but Malaysia decided to boycott the Games.

R. Arumugam has earned 196 caps(not all A class international matches) for Malaysia during his time with the national team since 1973 when he retired from international football in 1986. His personal goal was to earn 200 caps.

R.Arumugam did more than play the game. In 1983, he formed his own club, Starbrite SC, as part of his personal contribution to the youngsters in his housing area.

He was killed in a car accident at Federal Highway near Petaling Jaya on 18 December 1988. He is survived by wife Maria Selvie, and two daughters,Subha Arumugam and Rubha Arumugam .

In recognition of his services to both state and nation, the Football Association of Selangor and Public Bank where Arumugam was employed started a trust fund in the name of R. Arumugam on January 5, 1989. He was awarded Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN) which carried title "Datuk" by Yang Dipertuan Agong on 4 June 2011.


James wong



James Wong is a former Malaysian footballer who is a striker for Malaysia national football team and Sabah FA.He was known as King James Wong by the local fans and Ah Fook by his teammates.
James is well known for his physical and finishing touch. His partnership with hassan sani produce many memorable goal for Sabah and Malaysia. The most memorable one was in the 980 olympic game qualification.

Hassan sani


Hassan Sani (born March 12, 1958) was a former Malaysian football player. He played for Sabah FA in the semi-pro league and Malaysia cup in the late 1970s and in the 1980s.

He is remembered as a member of the potent strike force comprising the likes of Mokhtar Dahari and James Wong (another player from Sabah). He was called lipas kudung because of his agility.
He was a member of the Malaysia Squad that qualified for the 1980 olympics in Moscow. Unfortunately, Malaysia did not go as it joined the US-led boycott against Soviet Union for the invasion of Afghanistan
In 1996, Hassan join Malaysia national beach soccer team. He played in the Beach soccer world cup 1999 as well.

Zainal Abidin Hassan





Zainal is well known as the best Malaysian footballer in the 80's and 90's. His football career started with Selangor FA in 1980. 
In 1987, he partnered Dollah Salleh in front as they became the fierce striker for Selangor FA and Pahang FA in Malaysia CUP and also the national team in SEA games and Merdeka Tournarment. In 1996 tiger cup, Zainal was awarded as the MVP of the tournament. Three years later he was awarded the AFC Century Club.

He retired from football in 1999 and selected to coach the Malaysian youth in 2001. In 2002 he selected as the assistant coach for Malaysia senior team. He later coached Pahang FA and brought them their first Malaysia super league title. In 2006 he guided Pahang FA to win the Malaysian super league. After the contract withpahang FA ended, he reunites with his partner Dollah salleh. This time they act as manager-coach combination for Kuantan port shahzan muda FC

Dollah Salleh


Dollah is one of Malaysia top footballer in the 80's and 90's. He with striking partner Zainal abidin hassan was memorize as the twin striker by the local football fans. Dollah was first introduce in the Malaysian football in 1985. At that time he represent Johor FA, which is one of the competitive teams in the semi-pro era.
When Dollah join Selangor FA in 1987, new twin striker was born after the era of Hassan sani and James wong. He and Zainal abidin hassan became the fierce striking partner for both Selangor FA and Malaysia Nasional Team.

With Malaysia netional team, Dollah won the gold medal for Malaysia national team in 1989 South East Asian Games. He also help Malaysia national team to win the 1993 merdeka tounement by beating South Korea 3-1. Dollah also playing in the first edition of ASEAN football Championship.Malaysia national team manage to go through into the final of the competition but losing 1-0 to Thailand.

Dollah retired playing football after the 1998 season ended. The last team he represent is Negeri Sembilan FA

Raja gopal




Datuk K. Rajagopal, (Rajagopal Krishnasamy)  is a Malaysian football manager and former professional player. He is currently the head coach of Malaysia and former under-23 Malaysia coach.

As player

K. Rajagopal played for PKNS FC in the Malaysian semi-professional league from 1978 until 1989. He is a former national striker, with 20 international caps between 1980 and 1983.

As manager

Rajagopal started his coaching career in 1990 with PKNS FC. He also had stints as club coach with Selangor FA and Kelantan FA
He was made the national coach for the young Malaysia-20 team from 2004 until 2006; and the Malaysian U-19 (known as Harimau Muda A) in 2007 to 2009. Under his guidance, Harimau Muda A became the Premier league champion in 2009. Since July 2009, he is the head coach for both the Malaysia Nasional and the Malaysia-23 squad.
Rajagopal is best-known for guiding Malaysia's Under-23 side to its first gold medal in 20 years at the 2009 Southest Asian Games in Laos where the team defeated Vietnam 1-0 in the final on December 17 after earlier knocking out 8-time defending champions, Thailand, in the group stage. After the victory, Rajagopal earned the nickname "King Raja". In July 2009, Rajagopal coached Malaysia in two games against English champions, Manchester United, losing in both matches 2–3 and 0–2. He also lead Malaysia national football team to successfully win the AFF Suzuki cup in 2010.
His philosophy of changing the tactical approach from a defensive to offensive playing style has been rewarded. His young team has shown a high standard of football possession, good defensive structure and clinical finish en route to clinch the AFF Suzuki Cup although his side lost their main charismatic and influential defender (Aidil Zafuan)and many more potential young players from the first team lineup.

Soh Chin Aun


In 1971, when he played in the Olympic qualifier in Seoul, South Korea, he was the youngest member of the national team at the age of 21. He participated in the 1972 Munich Olympics Games and was the captain of the qualifying team to the 1980 Moscow Olympics Games. Unfortunately Malaysia did not participate the 1980 Olympic. However because of his contribution for helping Malaysia to qualify for 1980 Olympic, he awarded Ahli Mangku Negara by Yang Dipertuan-Agong.
His partnership with Santokh Singh was the most solid defence in the much-feared Malaysian team back then. He earned the nickname The 'god of war' for his commanding play. He retired from international football in 1985. In 1999 he become part of the AFC Century Club.
